Baby Monitors

 

Baby monitors are a great aid to parents allowing them to do their chores while being reassured that the baby is sleeping safely.

 

 

 

A Baby Monitor is a system of two wave radio with a 60 to 500 metre reception, which allows you to hear your baby while you are in a different room.  All Monitors have two units, the Baby Monitor which is placed close to the baby and will transmit the baby sounds to the other unit which you keep with you. The most common and less expensive models are sound models, they only transmit the sounds your baby makes, but recent developments in technology has lead to visual and temperature models coming out. Some Baby Monitor also have a sensor which you can place under the baby and it will send an alarm if the baby stops breathing or making a noise.  With the Visual Monitors you can watch your baby as well as listen to the noise they make.  With temperature models you are informed of the temperature in the baby’s room at all times.

Baby Monitors are either plugged or battery operated. Also models can come with a light indictor, which lights up if the baby becomes distressed even when you have muted the sound. This is particular good if you are watching TV with your monitor near you.

Features to look for

• A moving lights display. This allows you to mute your baby’s sounds but still receive an indication that he is becoming distressed.
• A choice of two channels. This can help improve transmission and may be essential if you live in a flat or terraced house where you may pick up interference from a neighbour’s unit
• A volume control
• A night light on the baby unit
• A low power warning signal
• A stand
• A belt clip on the parent unit. Particularly useful if you are going to be moving around from room to room or out in the garden
• Rechargeable batteries
• An adapter, so that a battery-operated unit can be used on the mains

Visual Monitors.

These Monitors are very expensive, but do allow you to watch your baby on a small black and white screen, as well as hear your Child. By using the latest infra-red technology and very small camera, you can see baby even in a dark room.

 All monitors are tested on a 20 hour run and all electrics are checked to meet BS standards.
