Baby Bouncers

A Baby Bouncer is a hammock- style reclining chair for a baby; these have been designed to place as little stress as possible on a baby’s developing spine, and therefore can be used safety up to the age of 6 – 9 months or 7 – 9 kg. Please be aware that bouncy chairs should not be used once a baby has the strength to pull themselves forward into a more upright sitting position.  As bouncy chairs only come with a three point harness and baby that can pull themselves up to a sitting position may well reach forward and fall. An alternative chair will be needed at this stage.

 

 

A baby bouncer is a great aid to parents allowing the child to sit comfortably and watch mum or dad, and teaches them hand eye coordination and allows free movement of legs, arms and head. It is a nice alternative to laying baby in its Moses Basket or on the Floor. By using a Bouncy chair the baby is sitting in natural position and can take more of the world in.

Babies learn by watching what is going on around them, by placing them in an area that is busy with lots going on, babies are kept occupied.  Interacting with your baby has been proved to improve communication skills later in life.   There are two types of Bouncy chairs on the market.
A standard chair which has only one position and cannot be altered. This is made of a basic metal frame covered with fabric to create a hammock style seat.  Babies own movement encourages the chair to bouncy softly. These types of chairs are a great weaning device.

A more expensive bouncy model of bouncy chair which has knobs which allow the movement up or down back rest. Also the seat tends to be more padded and has a heavy frame. Some bouncy chairs have a motor which gentle bounces the baby and some will also play music to smooth the baby.
