Small babies are not good at controlling their own body temperature, so it is important that you monitor their temperature and adjust their bedding accordingly. It is just as important that your baby does not get too hot or too cold. It is also important to note that ill or feverish babies generally don't need extra bedding. In fact, in most cases, they need less. You can check if your baby is too hot or cold by feeling his or her tummy, or by inserting two fingers down the back of their necks.
Baby’s room should be kept at 18c and bedding should be no more than a combined tog of 10 togs. Most babies kick their blankets off in the night, which is not a problem unless their room is cold or during the winter. I would suggest using a sleeping bag or grow bag. Instead of blankets to keep baby warm at night.
These are available from most supermarkets and good baby stores.
